Lomkod Lake
Crystal clear water and peacefulness, two attributes that describe the Lomkod lake very well. Being off the beaten track, very few tourists visit this lake. A few vendors and their kids and a handful of locals are usually around only.
What to expect
This is one of the best places in Ratanakiri for a daylong retreat away from civilisation. It’s 57 km away from Banlung, but the trip is completely worth it. After heading east for about 30 km towards Vietnam, you turn right onto a more quite road that leads you through rubber plantations, small villages and hills. It’s worth stopping a few times for some landscape shots.
There are a few vendors between the entry fee booth and the lake where you can buy cold drinks, snacks and even order a hot lunch or dinner. The huts that you find along the lake are owned by the vendors/restaurants, so if you order food you can relax in the huts free of charge normally. If you’re like most tourists, you will likely simply grab a cold drinks and stroll down the stairs and relax on the pier.
There are 3 larger piers around the lake and a few rather smaller and hidden ones on the western side. You will find plenty of cool places to hangout, shoot pictures and to enjoy the atmosphere.
